Supporting charity

Every year Continews picks a charity to work for free of charge for a period of twelve months. A gift in the form of a Niche-subscription, with which media attention is pro-actively generated every month. Every CBF-certified charity with an ANBI-status can submit their entry, after which the Continews team picks a charity together. Last year Continews chose the Made Blue Foundation. Co-founder Machiel van Dooren explains how he found out about this opportunity: ‘’We got to know Continews through Floris Licht who works for Novotel. He is a Made Blue ambassador and a fan of our work, and he knows Continews very well. He told us about how they pick a charity each year and we were excited straight away.”

Made Blue Foundation

The Made Blue Foundation invests in clean drinking water projects for everyone in countries where it is needed the most. The Made Blue Foundation does so in a transparent and entrepreneurial way, with a focus on business: “We operate in business markets and focus 100% on working with businesses. Most of these are hospitality, offices or takeaway’, Machiel explains.

Growing through PR

Machiel explains the importance of PR for the Made Blue Foundation: ‘’As we are a foundation we try to handle publicity as efficiently as possible. This means not spending any money on expensive marketing or advertising. Thanks to PR we still have online visibility. Since we started working with Continews we have been growing and expanding, as our stories are now being shared constantly.”

Always time for a good story

While Made Blue always looks ahead when it comes to their news feed, of course news is something you can’t predict, Machiel knows: “Every few weeks or so we have a meeting with Continews, in which we evaluate the results and take a look at what’s ahead, that works really well. But of course sometimes news just happens. It’s not our core business so that’s why we are so happy with Continews, as they know how to switch gears instantly. Every time there is some last-minute news Continews manages to include it, so that we can still share it in a productive way.”

A special working relationship

Machiel’s positivity comes across once more when he’s talking about his working relationship with Continews: “First of all it is a special working relationship as Continews has supported us for a full year. The communication is always personable and direct. We are very grateful for this his working relationship and we notice that it has been working well. We get a lot of positive reactions through our network, so the bottom line is that we are very excited.”
